SCOTT FERRELL

Voice

Scott Ferrell, tenor, has entertained audiences all over the world with his world-class performances in opera, musical theatre and oratorio.  He first attracted international attention for his portrayal of Nerone in L’Incoronazione di Poppea in Austin, Texas and was engaged to reprise the role in Tel Aviv, Israel.  Locally, he has appeared with opera companies in Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth and Shreveport and has toured internationally in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, England, Scotland and Mexico. Dr. Ferrell was honored to be selected to tour with the late Robert Shaw and Atlanta Symphony in France’s esteemed St. Cere Musical Festival where he soloed and performed numerous oratorios and other musical numbers.

Recognized for his abilities as a singing actor, Dr. Ferrell was nominated for the B. Iden Payne Award for best leading actor and best supporting actor in a musical.  Other awards include the Marguerite McCammon Award for Vocal Excellence, a Finalist in the Bel Canto Foundation competition and a Finalist in the prestigious New York Metropolitan Regional Opera Auditions.  After receiving his actors equity card, Dr. Ferrell continued to perform lead and supporting roles in theatres in Austin, North Shore, Greenville S.C. and at Casa Manana in Fort Worth.  He now is resident musical director for Mainstage Classic Theatre located in Mansfield, Texas where he has conducted The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Annie Get Your Gun, South Pacific, The King and I and most recently, Annie.

A teacher for more than 25 years, Dr. Ferrell is passionate and committed to teaching and preparing his students for successful careers in the arts.
