Financial Aid

Scholarships and Financial Aid

There are many scholarship opportunities available to TCU music students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels that make attendance more affordable.

UNDERGRADUATE:

imageEach year, the School of Music awards numerous scholarships to music majors up to full tuition awards. Under special circumstances, non-music majors might also be considered for scholarship awards based on audition and the specific needs of the performing ensembles. Additionally, many TCU students receive both music and academic scholarships.  In order to be considered for an academic scholarship, the standard TCU Undergraduate Student Application (including teacher and counselor evaluations) and the School of Music online Audition Request Application must be submitted by February 15, 2017.  Music Scholarships will be considered by live audition until March 4, 2017; applicants must complete the online Audition Request Application before an audition time can be scheduled.  TCU Admission notification will be sent by April 1, 2017.

FAFSA - CSS PROFILE:

General information regarding TCU financial aid may be found at the TCU Office of Financial Aid webpage. Please note that to be considered for any form of institutional need-based aid, students must complete the FAFSA (US citizens only) and CSS Profile.

TCU EARLY APPLICATION/DECISION PROGRAM:

Music applicants interested in an earlier admission response are strongly encouraged to complete both application procedures above before the TCU Early Action deadline of November 1, 2016.  TCU Early Action provides application review and nonbinding University notification by January 1, 2017, while allowing applicants to decide by May 1, 2017 (National Candidate Reply Date) whether or not to attend TCU.  TCU Early Action combined with the January 28, 2017 Audition Day ensures a comprehensive admission decision by February 15, 2017.

NORDAN SCHOLARSHIP:

The NORDAN Scholarship is an exclusive award, open to entering freshmen vocalists, instrumentalists, and composers of superior talent, who have chosen to major in music.  NORDAN winners receive a four-year, FULL TUITION AWARD.  Applicants are required to complete the online Audition Request Application and upload a preliminary video performance for review in order to be considered for a live audition.  The application and video must be received by December 1, 2016.

NORDAN Live Auditions are held on January 14, 2017.  More information is available at www.music.tcu.edu/nordan-request.asp.

GRADUATE:

Masters and doctoral applicants will be considered for graduate assistantships as part of their application process. Graduate Assistantships include full-tuition remission plus a stipend. Please see the detailed information regarding graduate admissions at the graduate admissions page. The deadline for doctoral applications is December 1, and the deadline for masters applications is March 1.

Please note: Final admission into the TCU School of Music as a music major will not be considered until the performance audition has been completed, all supporting materials have been submitted, AND the student has been fully admitted to TCU.
