Richard Estes

Associate Professor of Music (Voice)

Richard Estes, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Opera Theatre, made his New York debut in a Camegie Hall performance of Massenet's Herodiade and the following night appeared in a world premiere opera at The Juilliard School. He has sung leading roles with The Houston Grand Opera, New York Grand Opera, and the operas of Honolulu, Atlanta, Cleveland, Minnesota, Columbus, Baltimore and a score of others.

Praise for his work has been published in The New York Times, Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Baltimore Sun, Washington Post, Opera News, Opera magazine (UK), and Musical America. His broadcasts have included PBS, NPR, and the BBC. In recent seasons, his varied performances have included The North American New Music Festival, concerts with the Omaha Symphony and Buffalo Philharmonic, and international appearances with the Minsk City Symphony and the Rome Festival.

Metroplex performances have included the Mostly Beethoven' Series in Dallas, recitals at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth and The New Texas Festival in Austin, as well as critically acclaimed appearances with Lyric Stage in Irving, Texas.
